A Bakersfield coffee shop's magical journey with Harry Potter has hit a legal bump. Covenant Coffee, dedicated to fostering education and employment for former and current foster children, faced a legal challenge from Warner Bros. over their 'Holidays at Hogwarts' event. The event, initially planned with Harry Potter-themed decorations and drinks, was renamed to 'Holidays in the Great Hall' after receiving a cease and desist letter from Warner Bros.' legal team. The letter instructed the removal of all Harry Potter-related content from social platforms and the discontinuation of trademarked names. Despite the setback, the event continues as scheduled, offering a sold-out trivia night for adults and a special morning session for young witches and wizards. Customers can also participate in a unique gift-giving initiative, where they can grab tags from Christmas trees at both Covenant locations, buy gifts, and return them to the shop to make someone's Christmas brighter. Warner Bros. Discovery declined to comment on the matter, leaving the community to ponder the balance between creativity and legal boundaries in event planning.
