There’s plenty of parking in La Jolla (over 2000 street spots and another 4400 in lots and garages), however, free street parking is limited and strictly monitored by Parking Enforcement. Read posted signs to avoid getting a citation. Better yet, avoid the hassle of searching for an open street stop and take advantage of LJVMA’s $5 discounted parking rate at a convenient garage located in the heart of the village. Off-street parking lots and garages are located just steps away from beaches, marine life, shopping, and dining.

Valet Service – Low Cost, Very Convenient
For around $12, La Jolla offers valet parking service at three convenient locations on Prospect Avenue. All are welcome to take advantage! Reservations are not required.

The exact origin of La Jolla’s name is somewhat uncertain. Historians dispute whether the name originates from the Spanish word La Joya, which means “the jewel” or from the Native American term Woholle meaning “hole in the mountains”.

La Jolla is located 15 miles north of downtown San Diego and approximately two hours driving south from Los Angeles.
From the NorthTake I-5 south and exit at La Jolla Village Drive. Head west on La Jolla Village and turn left onto Torrey Pines Road, which leads to La Jolla Shores Drive and Prospect Street.
From the South and EastTake I-5 north to La Jolla Parkway. Continue into La Jolla and turn right onto Prospect Street.
From San Diego AirportHead east on North Harbor Drive to Laurel Street and turn left. Follow signs to I-5 and go north approximately 7 miles to La Jolla Parkway. Continue into La Jolla and turn right onto Prospect Street.
