Firstly, this would mark a homecoming for Lupoi. A Bay Area native, he played for Cal from 2000 to 2005 and later coached the Golden Bears' defensive line for three seasons. He knows the program, the area, and the potential that lies within.

He's honed his skills at powerhouses like Washington and Alabama, and has been with Oregon since 2022.
